Michael S. Chernuchin is best known as the executive producer/showrunner and head writer of "Law & Order" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", which he guided into its record breaking 21st season. Also, he served as executive producer, head writer and showrunner of "Chicago Justice" and executive producer of "Rogue", "Black Sails", "Law & Order: Criminal Intent", and "Michael Hayes" and "Brooklyn South", both for the Network.

In addition, he and Dick Wolf served as showrunner, head writer and executive producer of "Feds" and "Bull", which was TNT's first original television series. Also, he served as consulting producer on "24", "Canterbury's Law" and "Marco Polo".

Chernuchin has been honored with numerous awards including, the Peabody Award, the Edgar Allen Poe Award, a Producers Guild Award and he has received four Emmy nominations. Additional nominations include Writers Guild for Best Dramatic Episode, and the Humanitas Prize for Best Dramatic Episode.

As a writer he has rewritten several feature films including "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II" and co-wrote "Eraser" starring Arnold Schwarzennegger.

Prior to becoming a writer, Chernuchin was an attorney practicing in New York City. He received his J.D. from Cornell Law School where he served as an editor of the Law Review, his M.A. in English literature from the University of Michigan and his A.B. from Dartmouth College.
